What’s a credit?
One credit is $0.012 of AI. You spend them only when you generate, transcribe, or render — editing is always free.
Questions filmmakers ask
Can I try it before I pay?
Yes. The editor, the screenplay tools, the whole workspace — free, with no card. You also get $5 of AI credits once, when you sign up, to lock a character and watch it hold across shots. They don't expire, and there's no monthly refill on the free plan: when they run out you buy a credit pack and only pay for what you generate.
What happens if I run out of credits mid-render?
A render that has already started always completes — we never kill a job you've paid to start. The credit check happens when you start the next one, with a heads-up at 80% of your allowance before anything blocks.
Can I get a refund?
Unspent purchased credits are refundable within 30 days. Credits already used for completed generations are non-refundable; failed operations are restored automatically. Email pricing@kontagion.com if anything looks wrong.
Do you offer student or educator discounts?
Not at launch — but we want to. Email pricing@kontagion.com from your school address and tell us what you're making; it directly shapes whether we ship an education tier.
Can I switch tiers anytime?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and Stripe prorates the difference; downgrades apply at your next billing date. Purchased top-up credits stay with you either way.
Do credits expire?
Purchased credits (packs and pay-as-you-go) never expire. Monthly plan allowances refresh each billing period.
Is there annual billing?
Yes. Switch the toggle above to Annual: you pay for the year up front and get 2 months free (about 17% off). Credits still refill every month — annual only changes how you pay, not what you get.
Is my project private?
Yes. Your screenplay, media, and cuts are scoped to your account at the database level. Kontagion does not use your content to train its own models. Privacy mode can additionally block every cloud-bound AI call with a clean error.
